I find the TomTom One very good and fairly easy to use once you get used to it. The clarity on lane changes and exit is excellent and very helpful when bypassing cities. Portability is exceptional as well.

4 Stars Super-easy to learn, simple to use. The perfect no-frills GPS
This is my first GPS purchase ever. I’m so thrilled about this TomTom that I had to write a review.

I Bought it 2 hours ago, and within 5 minutes of getting it out of the box I hard 90% of the features figured out. How?

TomTom has an on-screen tutorial on how to use it. It took me about 3 minutes to go through them all.

Also, the instruction booklet is the best I’ve seen in a gadget. Big pictures with minimal writing. Where most companies get this wrong, TomTom has one of the easiest to follow set-ups I’ve seen. The only thing you’ll need the manual for is how to use the mount and turn the device on (2-second push on the power button).

Mounting it was a cinch– and I can’t believe how solidly the windshield mount holds the GPS to the windshield.

The user interface (ease of use) is amazing. Super simple… perfect for giving this to your tech-averse grandpa.

Leo Laporte (The Tech Guy on radio and TV) recommended the TomTom ONE 135 for a bargain priced GPS, which is why I bought this newer 140. I definitely agree with his verdict…

3 Stars You get what you pay for!
This model Tom Tom loses connection with the sattelites often. Sometimes it is right when I need turn information. If I elect not to follow the path suggested by the GPS it is very, very slow calculating another route. I could have done better; I should have done better.

Much better and stronger product than the original.

Fit is a little tight between the mount and the universal cradle. Has to be almost forced on.

1 Star If you buy from Beach Audio, you will not receive what you ordered
Product not as advertised. Ordered Magellan windshield mount #980823 but received 980799, which is an older, cheaper version that was simply relabeled and sold. Makes me wonder why Beach Audio doesn’t have a picture of the product, even though all other Amazon sellers do.

Though guy at Beach Audio said he would send me UPS shipping labels to return the items, no other attempts were made to satisfy the customer, nor have I received the shipping labels. The burden to correct this should not be left with the customer. Do not buy this item from Beach Audio.

5 Stars Great item RM 700
I have a Road-mate 700. Updated to a 760 by down loading took four hours, cost $99.00 now has all the perks the 760 has. The unit still has the smaller hard drive all around. The unit has served me well with very minor miss step on unknown dead end streets. It is now supposedly loaded with maps of Hawaii, United states,Canada,Mexico, Puerto Rico.

In California it is not permitted to stick any thing to the windshield glass. I have a mount for the air conditioner louvers, this will cool down the unit and in four hours the unit will shut down,it takes about three hours for it to warm up,[ don't throw it out the window yet] then your on off switch will work. If the air conditioner is not used then you are home free.

I would never go to any unknown areas with out it. This I believe to be one of the best units available I love it, and I give it Five stars,it’s now out of production,, how sad.

It works but it’s the third one I’ve had to buy. When it falls off the window it has a tendency to break. Not many options if you need to fit it to the Garmin. Price was great at 1/2 what others wanted.

4 Stars Traffic Info Along With Some Strange But Entertaining Extras
We use the traffic service primarily in Michigan and Ohio. It seems to catch most of the traffic back ups (especially in Ohio) and allows us to route around or ignore the trouble spots. Our only complaint is that we occasionally get some rather strange warnings. We have had several “avalanche warnings” in Toledo, a “bicycle race” warning on I-90 and a “Boxing Tournament” warning on US-2. All in all we are very happy with the service and have had a few chuckles from it’s occasional mix ups.

I wasn’t thrilled with this. By the time it alerted you of the traffic, you were already stuck in it, or beyond the point that you can turn around.

5 Stars Excelent service for the price
I bought this because I am usually on the road when I find out about important traffic info. It works great when your in areas it works in. A little icon appears when there is traffic info to report. When I first got my GPS unit, this extra traffic service was a $100. When I saw it for $30 I couldn’t let the deal pass by.

3 Stars Canadians beware!!!

TomTom GPS works good, even the reconditioned unit is just fine, BUT

UPS delivered it and charged me another 56% on top of the original purchase price in duty alone without any warning.

I will never order from Amazon again and will never accept deliveries from UPS again and I will tell everybody who will listen about this unfortunate experience.

I have not used any other GPS systems so I don’t have anything to compare to but this one is awesome. I use it often. It’s great for yard saling. Every destination that I’ve used it to get to, I’ve made it there. The one complaint I would have is that it doesn’t always give you enough notice on when to turn. it sometimes doesn’t tell you til you are passing the turn and you have to backtrack a little.

TomTom ONE XL-S 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator. While on freeway GPS directed turn right at end of road. On another occaison directed departing highway I80 going East and taking highway 505 going north when my destination was highway 50 going East.Has great features, will continue to use unless more surprise events occur.

1 Star My TOM TOM was a DUM DUM
I am disappointed to say the least. I live in a rural area and it constantly told me to turn where there were no roads. The ETA was always wrong as well. It would tell me it was 3 hrs. to the destination when it was a 45 min drive. I tried to use the free map upgrade certificate that came with the unit but it never worked. I tried customer service but never got an answer or was contacted for that matter. I would not feel comfortable giving this unit to my wife as it would get her terribly lost. I finally returned the unit after much frustration. I bought a Nextar for 1/2 the price and it works great.

5 Stars such a deal!!!
I have been thinking about replacing my aging Garmin 2610 for some time. The unit is used predominantly on my motorcycle, so I was looking at the Zumo series. With both those units costing well over $550 I just couldn’t pull the trigger. When I saw the 2720 for $107 I figured I couldn’t go wrong. My nit shipped promptly and when it arrived it appeared to me to be a brand new unit. The listing states tat it is reconditioned, but I would venture a guess that these are new old stock as mine was in perfect, untouched condition. The unit came with 2008 maps installed and they will do just fine until I decide to upgrade through Garmin.

The 2720 provides all the functionality I need for daily use. It’s only shortcoming is a screen that is somewhat smaller than current units. In use, the map on the screen is actually smaller than the screen size as the right border is taken up with vehicle speed and directions. The ony thing I feel the display is missing is a ‘time to destination’ display.

Of course, it doesn’t have the bells and whistles of Bluetooth, MP3 playback or an FM transmitter, but I wasn’t looking for those things and wasn’t willing to spend $600 for them. What you get with the 2720 is a solid, waterproof GPS with excellent navigational functions. If this is what you are looking for, you can’t do any better than this GPS

5 Stars Couldn’t be happier
I ordered the Garmin SP 2720 over the weekend, and it shipped from Las Vegas on 5/11 and arrived today (5/13) in Southern Utah. And that was using UPS Ground.

I couldn’t believe it was “Newly Overhauled”, as the blue label on the non-retail box read. It definitely looks new and it works flawlessly. Everything was included and it all looked new. I bought this mainly for my Road Star cruiser and I’m convinced I made a good decision.

This is remanufactured? You’d never know it. A solid “5″.

3 Stars Compared to the 2610
I like the features on the 2610 much better than the 2720. Everything was clear and precise. It looked the same in the photos and I was concerned about that because of the motorcycle mount I had invested in. It does fit that and I wish they made a new model that would fit it as well.

5 Stars can’t beat the price
I have a 2610 which has some intermitten problem and was going to buy one of those latest GPS. I find most of them with so much features that I will not be using most of them. I really like the remote feature of the 2610 and when I saw these refub 2710s for just over $100. I could not resist. Got the unit and looks brand new, much easier to set up then my 2610. The only downside is that this is a bulky unit compared to the lastest generation of GPS.
