Ferdinand Magellan was the first explorer to circumnavigate the globe. He did so under the Spanish crown in the 16th century. Since that time, the name Magellan has stood for navigation far and wide. Is it any wonder that there is a firm for global tracking services, therefore, named Magellan? Is it any wonder that the Magellan Roadmate series includes prime features for easy navigation and easy use?

The Magellan Roadmate series is a line of handheld GPS devices to help clients navigate North America, including the United States. Each unit is easy to use with interactive displays that are intuitive and simple to understand. It’s so you easy that you almost don’t need to read the directions! While Magellan offers various models, all of them share some common features, including six million points of interest (POI). These points allow you to click on an icon for the location you’ve chosen, and the GPS system will provide detailed instructions for arriving at your destination, including freeway exits and other useful information. There are a wide variety of POIs, including fuel stations, hotels, and cash machines, and POIs can be searched by name, city, category, or location closest to your position.

See below for other shared features. The home icon allows you to set any location to be your home base. QuickSpell is a capability of the Magellan Roadmate GPS system that lets you check spelling while you type, and it quickly and easily searches POIs and addresses for you. SayWhere is a feature that uses text-to-voice technology to give you street names and turn-by-turn instructions to get you to the next stop on your journey. Auto re-route and SmartDetour are two of the greatest features of the Magellan Roadmate. These help you avoid congested traffic due to accidents, road construction, or other factors. Your route will be re-assessed, even as you turn off in other directions to avoid heavy traffic. Auto NightView is a very useful feature that automatically resets the LCD screen settings for brightness, color, and contrast for ease of navigation in low light situations. Address Books come standard on each of the Roadmate GPS systems. You can save information for use on future trips, and avoid having to look up the same POIs over and over again.

There are plenty of other great features available, though they don’t come standard on all models. For example, the Roadmate 1430 has a handy tow truck icon that displays your exact whereabouts so tow trucks can locate you easily in an emergency. On the 1200, 1400, and 1430 models, you can take advantage of 2D and 3D screen view options. And, every Magellan Roadmate comes with detailed maps of each North American country, in addition to Puerto Rico and Hawaii. Your position will be located to within 3 meters of your actual location in real time, and the unit’s rechargeable batteries last for three hours before needing a recharge. The Magellan Roadmate GPS makes customizable routes a reality, and some units have the ability to load up to twenty locations at once!

Users love the flexibility and grand detail received in using these sleek little compact GPSs, especially since you can take them anywhere! You can also attach it to your windshield or dash with accessories that comes with. There is a volume adjustment so you can hear around noisy situations, and the level will come back down when it becomes quieter. Additional maps are available for download for the UK and European countries, as well. For everyday life, excursions into traffic or your own little epic adventure, the Magellan Roadmate GPS is a fantastic buy!

The rapid technological progress in todays world has enhanced our way of living and added convenience to our lives. In the earlier times, you could not think of exploring an unknown area or a foreign land on your own lest you get lost. Now a days with the invention of handheld GPS receivers you can go wherever you want and yet you wont get lost. Initially these kinds of satellite navigation systems were used for the military and were developed around the 1960s.

A handheld GPS receiver is a small device which looks like a wrist watch or a radio and is equipped with Global positioning system (GPS) technology. You can use these handheld GPS receivers for almost everything. You can use them for all kinds of sports like fishing, hunting, hiking, biking and a lot more. There are different handheld receivers for different uses such as a hunting handheld GPS receiver comes complete with compass and camouflage. These devices are quite lightweight and have all the modern functions like up to 2000 weight point storage, 10 to 50 retraceable paths and graphics for all the locations.

For those who merely require a GPS handheld receiver in order to find their way home, basic models can be found for about $100 but for those wanting something more, there are of course models offering features such as:

Personalized icons Map Database MP3 Built in Anti-Theft WAAS technology Voice activated GPS Non-reflection screen

So why would you need a handheld GPS receiver at all? Here are some of the reasons why it is a good idea and why people are using it:

1) Proving those around you can speak your language; you can always ask for help should you get lost. Alternatively, you could phone for help but if you have a GPS receiver, you eliminate this problem altogether.

2. If you are late for somewhere and you want to reach on time, you need to find the shortest and quickest route available. The handheld GPS receiver can help you to find the best and shortest route possible.

3) You’ve relocated to a new area or even a different country and all of a sudden, a medical emergency crops up. With a GPS receiver you’ll be able locate a doctor or hospital in seconds.

4) The days of getting lost and not being able to find you way are a thing of the past, thanks to the small size of receivers and the fact that you can take them anywhere.

5) Should an emergency take place while you and your family are traveling, searching for a suitable map can waste a huge amount of time, not too mention the fact that you may not be able to make sense of the map in the first place. In such a scenario, a GPS handheld receiver could quite literally be a life saver.

Hence with a handheld GPS receiver, you will always be safe wherever you go!

by Tingwey

Before knowing about the auto navigation system, there are a few basic things to know and understand about the Global Positioning System (GPS). The GPS is a satellite is a group of 24 satellite placed into the orbit by the US Defense department. In the past this technology was strictly reserved for military use and was not used by civilians until the 1980s.This GPS works in any weather condition and can be used any where in the world. It works 24hours a day and is completely free for any one who wants to use the GPS.

The satellite navigation technology was developed a very long time ago but so many people do not realize that. It all started in 1967 when the basic principles of SatNav were first tested. It was not until the 1990s when the NavSat GPS systems were first used by the military. A short period later, the civilian use of this technological development was authorized but it could not be used by every one since it was very expensive. During this period, the first people who had the privileged to use it were pilots and surveyors who used it for their distant measurements. An average citizen could not use the Auto navigation system at that time for his small car.

Over the past couple of years, the cost of installing a GPS auto navigation system has fallen considerably. As an inevitable result of this, more and more people are taking advantage of it in order to make it easier to find out where they are going, plan their journeys, and keep track of where they are.

Do not think that auto navigation systems are application used only by those who do extensive travels. But the truth is, even people, who spend many hours in their car, truck, or SUV also need the benefits from an automobile navigation system or any device of the same value. Most prospect users like you might just be thinking of one concern. And that is the kind of system that will best suit the certain navigation you really need. What you need to know are the different auto navigation systems and determine which of these suites your needs more.

There are different auto navigation systems on the market today: 1. Stand-alone auto navigation system Stand-alone navigation systems provide the most thorough and complete mapping utilities. 2. Multipurpose Handheld Navigation Devices:Comparing to the stand-alone navigation system, the multipurpose handheld navigation devices do not have the full-detailed information that the former can offer you. 3. Laptop/Palm Based Systems:If you already have your Palm or laptop devices and you often bring them with you while traveling, better just turn them into a navigation system.

Below are some of the ways on how you can use the auto navigation system and GPS technology during your every travel: 1. Planning your trip. Before you get in your car and start the engine, of course, you need first to know where your destination will be. 2. Keep track of restaurants, malls, or theatres. While you are in travel, there are some points that you might need to eat some or stop for a while to take rest. Doing these in a mall, theatre, or some restaurant is a great option.

In the good old day, a simple journey of an hour could end up taking several hours simply because there was no direction take, no fuel points noted or restaurants taken note. The GPS Auto navigation system has come to solve that problem.

The GPS navigation system has made it easy for traveling in the sense that it make s you know where you are, and it can equally help you get the shortest way to you final destination.

Saving time, money and energy has become effective with the auto navigation system during a journey as the traveler will no longer need to flip through the pages of a pocket map or a travel guide get the exact location of a place. All he need is to get the Auto navigation system and all will be well.

by Alexis Kenne

It is highly likely that you have glimpsed one of the many Garmin commercials that have been highly visible near the Holiday Season. A typical version of one commercial shows a man who has become lost while doing Christmas shopping. As he drives around in his car searching for the way home he sees a number of familiar Christmas characters hitchhiking along the same streets. The driver ends up giving rides to the assorted group of characters while an unseen background chorus sings that cute Garmin jingle. See what can be avoided when you have a Garmin Sat Nav; who knows what kinds of characters may be waiting for the next unsuspecting driver.

The point hits home for us though, and it is easy to see that Garmin Sat Nav devices are the most popular navigation devices on the market today. They come in many assortments and styles and can be a very practical and smart looking addition to your car. A Garmin Sat Nav device can be a boon when trying to find your way around the city or place you arent familiar with.

Garmin Sat Nav dates back to 1989 when a small group of workers decided that vertical integration was a useful concept that would bring them success. This term meant that they would handle the design, construction and marketing of the products from start to finish. In less than 20 years the Garmin Company became a thriving enterprise with over 7000 full time employees.

What is the big appeal of a Garmin Sat Nav? Customer satisfaction is a top goal of the Garmin Company and they keep this in mind when they design any of their products. All of the Garmin Sat Nav models are user friendly with easy to read menus. The Garmin Sat Nav is also designed for practical use and is remarkably durable. Consumers are also pleased with the sleek, modern lines that make any Garmin Sat Nav an attractive dashboard accessory.

There are numerous GPS functions that are used to make the Garmin Sat Nav an indispensable driving accessory. Users can be updated about any traffic holdups or accidents and given rerouting information instantly. There are split screen functions to use and the text to speech feature makes sure your hands are always free to do the driving.

How people are using Garmin Sat Nav nowadays? You turn on your Garmin and it simply asks you Where to? With the speech recognition software you can go anywhere you want without taking your hands off of the wheel. That leaves the floor open to helping you go wherever you want whenever you want. People also use Garmin devices in aviation, boating and even hiking in the woods!

What the future of Garmin Sat Nav devices may reveal is still to be seen but there are numerous scenarios where the technology will be useful. The company has seen its products become best sellers for automobiles, but this is just the beginning. Today hand held phones and other mobile devices are a booming market and Garmin Sat Nav will be making a big impact here in much the same manner as they did with cars only a few years ago.

While Garmin might take a huge chunk of the cell phone GPS market in the future, it is clear that right now the Garmin devices are hands down more sleek and practical than anything on the market today. If you want to know where you are going, then a Garmin Sat Nav device is the way to go.

If you like to fish, one of the easiest ways to find fish is by using the fish finder. You can take it with you when you look for fish in the ocean. The fish finder you choose will depend on what type of fishing you are going to be doing. Take a look at what’s on the market as far as fish finders go and then choose the right one for your needs. If you’re a commercial fisherman or just do it for fun, getting the right fish finder can make you a much greater success when it comes to catching fish.

Finding where the fish are is the most important part of having success on your fishing trip. While some fishermen just use their instinct and search the sea for the best place to fish, others prefer to use a fish finder. Originally the technology was designed to allow the military to find submarines on the bottom of the ocean floor. Now the same technology can provide a fisherman with all the information that they need to find where the fish are located.

Fish finders use sonar technology to detect the area between your boat and the ocean floor and obstacles that are in between the two. Usually this means fish. Today’s fish finders are much more advanced than the original equipment that was used by the military. With a modern fish finder, you will have the information displayed to you with a map to help you locate exactly where the fish are above the ocean floor.

Fish finders are a great tool for commercial fishermen to use when their livelihood depends on the amount of fish that are caught. They are also a great tool for a sportsmen who wants to increase his odds of finding fish. It is simply an aid that you can use to help you produce the best results on all of your fishing trips. They are also a great tool to have if you take others out fishing on your boat. You can bring your guests to the very place the fish are swimming and ensure that everyone has a good time on the fishing trip.

As time goes on, fish finders will only get better as technology improves. In fact, it’s expected that fish finders will eventually be basically “foolproof.” It can be expensive to buy a fish finder, especially if it’s an expensive and advanced model, but pretty soon, everyone’s going to have some type of fish finder on his or her boat. Among them are handheld models that you can take with you wherever you go (even not on your own boat).

Because there are many fish finders on the market, it’s easy for you to choose the one that best meets your needs. If you just fish occasionally for fun, you don’t need a terribly expensive, pricey model. However, if you fish for a living and your ability to make that living depends upon your ability to find fish, then you’ll need a much more expensive model — but it will be well worth the price. Check out the wide number of models on the market and find one that’s just right for you.

by Alexis Kenne

You should know the facts about the GPS system. Here it is:

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. There are no subscription fees or setup charges to use GPS.

GPS satellite navigation was first put into operation in 1993 when the military used it in operations as NavStar GPS satellite. This was almost thirty years after the system was originally tested. The GPS became available to civilians after its launch and among the first people who made use of this service were pilots and surveyors who needed to get exact distance measurement. At first, the cost of the navigation satellite system was very high and it required subscribers to have ongoing subscription service. The average car owner at that time was unable to afford the GPS auto navigation system.

Over the past couple of years, the cost of installing a GPS auto navigation system has fallen considerably. As an inevitable result of this, more and more people are taking advantage of it in order to make it easier to find out where they are going, plan their journeys, and keep track of where they are.

Never make a mistake that the auto navigation system it was only meant for people who travel extensively. Its not. Actually, it is for anyone who spends long hours in their vehicle driving. You may be interested in knowing how these navigation system devices can help you in a way you really need, especially when travelling. To make the most out of it, you should know what benefits it can give you and how the auto navigation system will suit your needs.

Here are some of the available auto navigations systems in the market: 1. Stand-alone auto navigation system This stand-alone navigation system is able to give you clear verbal turn-by-turn directions without you being connected to any computers. 2. Multipurpose Handheld Navigation Devices. This device can be used for different functions, however it may not be able to give detailed information like the stand-alone device. 3. PC/Laptop/PDA/Palm Based Systems Using your laptop and other palm based devices you can navigate wherever you want when you turn them into a navigation system for your travel purposes.

Consider these 2 basic suggestions on how you can make your travel less time-consuming with the auto navigation system and GPS technology: 1. Determine which location or place you want to go and plan your trip. Before you leave, it would be better if you have full details of where you are heading and which road you should take. 2. Be familiar with the place by tracking significant structures that might help you along the road like restaurants, malls, restrooms, gasoline station, or theatres. It would be an addition to your journey to make it more memorable.

The days of long hours of driving are now over and there is no need to spend so much time and money for gas and fuels just to reach your desired places. You can now save more through this auto navigation system and GPS technology.

The GPS system made available these navigation systems to help people travel easily giving them routes where they can travel in a more direct route, saving time, instead of spending long hours of driving and traveling. Through the GPS system, it is now easier to tell which direction is better way to go to reach the desired destination without wasting so much time, money, and energy previously associated with traveling.
