4 Stars Easy to use
Best feature is being able to control the functions with a voice command. Would have given it a 5 star rating – if it was less expensive relative to the other Garmin models.
1 Star Not worth the money!
I purchased this unit thinking I was getting Garmin’s flagship GPS. I have had the 885t since it’s release in Jan 09, and paid $699.99. At this price you would think the unit would perform flawlessly. Not the case. I believe most of the issues have to do with the updates Garmin forces on you. The unit itself lacks the smoothness of movement the lesser 2×5 series has. The bluetooth is useless. People can’t understand a word you say. MSN services don’t work as advertised. The doppler radar is hours behind, so you already know what the weather is before the GPS tells you. After several calls to support and countless hours on hold, they finally agreed there was a problem and swapped the unit out. I got the new unit and it is worse than the first one. The replacement resorts back to factory reset everytime you turn it off. The Garmin reliability is a thing of the past, the should think of changing their name to “Garbage”. Stay away from this model and save yourself a lot of headaches. I bought a TomTom 740 live this week and love it. More features, easy to update with mapshare, great bluetooth and superb tech support.
5 Stars This is the one to buy!
At last, a GPS that lets you concentrate on the road. The speech recognition feature is easy to use and works extremely well. Coupled with my Bluetooth enabled phone and MSN Direct, Garmin has eliminated a lot of the hassle and potential problems of driving in congested areas. I’ll be taking this to Europe in the fall thanks to the ability to insert a microSD card directly into the unit. (Have already simulated my route so I’m better prepared for the trip.)
The design and size makes it easy to slip into a pocket, and you can switch to the Pedestrian mode when you leave the car and not worry about getting lost (wife loves that).
Would like to see a better manual (both what’s sent in the box and on line). Tech Support was very knowledgable about the use of the microSD card and provided info that was not in any of the documentation. Don’t hesitate to send them an email if you can’t find an answer in their Q&A section.
1 Star 885t problems
I bought the 885t 2 months ago and have returned 2 to Amazon due to defects. The first 885t had problems with the touch screen completely freezing up and I had to take the battery out to get it to restart. The second GPS started shutting down and rebooting on its own on several occasions. With both units, I called Garmin and they confirmed it was a defect in the product. I am very disappointed I got two lemons in a row. Also, I tried using the MSN to find a gas station while on a trip. On two occasions, it directed me to a gas station that didn’t exist. At this point, I’m without a GPS and looking at other manufactures.
1 Star Major Disappointment
I “upgraded” from a Garmin NUVI 350 to an 885T. My 1st trip was from Tennessee thru the Northeast, seeking specific locations for my job. I brought both units, luckily, as the new 885T tried to get constantly send me who knows where. I eventually put the old 350 unit on the windshield along side it, what a geek, and started comparing routes. In Boston, trying to go to an address I had previously visited, the 885T got me lost miles away. I put the 350 up, which had correctly taken me there once before with no issues, and followed it’s directions. As I got off the correct exit, 20 minutes later, the 885T told me to get off the exit, get back on the highway and go back the way I had just traveled. The 350 took me straight to my destination with the 885T “recalculating” the whole way. In New York City, I was on I-95 heading East to an address in Connecticut on I-95 that I knew, and the 885T wanted me to take the Lincoln Tunnel into NY City. This happened on several occasions in multiple states. At my parents house in Connecticut, the “Where am I now?” feature told me I was @ street #335 when I was at street #9; there are only 2 houses on the street, #s 7 & 9. This feature is yet to give me the address I am sitting at. The 4-yr old maps in my NUVI 350 worked 100% better than the new and improved 885T. So much for my $500.00 upgrade.

4 Stars nice but zipper a bit hard to pull around corners
This is a nice case. It is hard enough, made of nice materials. It is a snug fit for my nuvi 765T. The only thing I don’t like is the zipper is somewhat hard to close around the corners and you have to make some effort to align the case and the zipper so it closes. Recommended.
Update: The dimensions (outside) are 3.5″ (95mm) x 5.25″ (135mm) x 1.125″ (30mm) NOT 6 x 1 x 8 inches!
3 Stars Good for the Price
The case was fairly inexpensive which was my primary motivation after plunking down $250 for the GPS unit itself.
The dimensions are accurate, and the fit is accurate without being too tight or too loose around my wide screen format unit. The “hardness” of the case also is as hoped for, and feels secure and very capable of protecting the unit under normal carrying situations.
I’ve used it to put in some receipts when traveling with the GPS unit, but there are no bells and whistles to accommodate other storage elements. Purely intended for the unit only. It fits well in cargo pants or coat pockets — even back pocket of some jeans I would guess.
My one concern is the zipper. It works fine through the first month I’ve had it; but, it is “tight” around the three corners of the case. It makes me feel like it is stretched a bit and could become an issue with the teeth getting misaligned as you have the sensation of forcing the zipper over those corners. Can you lube a zipper?
4 Stars OK but Could be better!
This product was not as hard a shell as I had hoped and less quality than I’d hoped. The elastic bands don’t allow enough room to easily store GPS without worry of scratching screen with zipper. there could be more padding inside case for protective purposes. Still it is capable of protecting GPS from many hazzards and accidents.
2 Stars Not for the Navigon 7100
This one was advertised to fit the 7100, its too small. It might fit a 3.5 screen though. Sorry.

4 Stars Garmin nuvi 260W 4.3-inch Potable GPS
I tried out several models and I like this one the most. Very easy to use just mount it and punch in where you want to go and you never have to use a map again. The only thing I wish it had was the speed limit of the area you are driving in. Like for instance say you are driving in a 45 mile zone well the other Gamin’s I have used would say the speed limit on the screen and also how fast you are going so that was really cool wish this had that feature but oh well. Got a great deal and its WELL Worth the money! NEVER GET LOST AGAIN…….. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!
5 Stars awesome
i never had a GPS before and then i bought this one and it is so cool
5 Stars This GPS is amazingly accurate.
I have had this GPS now for 2 weeks and have tried it out on both drives I know well and don’t know too well. It has been very accurate. Easy to set up and download all updates from your computer. I recommend it for anyone looking for a GPS. Shop around and you will find that you are getting your money’s worth and more!
5 Stars Garmin 260W
I used the Garmin 260W on a recent trip from Colorado to New York. It is an outstanding device. When I compare this device to my in-dash navigation system on a 2004 car, the Garmin wins, and when you compare the Garmin with a built-in navigation system, the price is considerably lower.
4 Stars Great little gadget!
This is a great, affordable navigation device. Speaker is nice and loud, screen is bright and clear, touchscreen is very responsive. Device worked immediately right out of the box, it’s easy to set up and very intuitive. No problems after about a month of use. It has been very helpful (especially last weekend, heading up north to the cabin for Memorial Day weekend….took lots of backroads to avoid heavy traffic on the freeway. Couldn’t have done it w/o the Nuvi!).
One thing that is kind of annoying is the fact that the voice will often say “Doctor” rather than “Drive” when saying a street name. You’d think that would’ve been caught during firmware testing….
