1 Star There is no headphone jack as stated in the discription.
The website is wrong under product description, “headphone jack,” which is vital to not wake up the husband/wife on a trip. There is a picture of a headphone set by the power plug, but Magellan says, “no jack.”

5 Stars sastified customer
I used this product on our trip to South Carolina and 2 different stops in Florida, Daytona Beach and across the state to Cleawater the product performed flawlessly I am very happy with the GPS. I live in Michigan and the trip was about 3500 miles it took us everywhere we wanted to go with great accuracy

4 Stars Maestro 4250
I needed a portable GPS for my old second car. Having used a few GPS units including those from Garmin and Tom Tom…and the one built into my Acura I was looking for something w bluetooth and simple voice commands and a fairly large bright screen. I bought a refurbed unit at a pretty good price. My unit arrived and worked fine out of the box. However, for some reason it locked up while syncing to my Razor…..I couldn’t find anything on the web about that problem so concluded it was a unique glitch. In any event the problem disappeared when I installed the latest software upgrade. Pros…nice bright and fairly big screen. Works with traffic alert system. Cons… I think this uses the Windows CE operating system…need I say more about compromises? Sometimes the unit takes ages to find out where it is when switched on. For example if you switch off in one location (say at work)and turn on in another (say at home) it can be an agonizingly long time before it figures out you are in a different place from when the unit was last active. Also I found dragging the map on the screen can be frustrating – the touch sensitivity is awkward and takes some getting used to. Overall, the key with this unit is to sit down and spend time to understand its functions and foibles. Once you understand the thing you start to enjoy using it. Finally none of the portable units I have used outdo the installed unit in my car.

5 Stars My second purchace, so far so good
It’s one of the best GPS there is. I’ve researched all of the different GPS products that are out there and believe me this is the best! You won’t be disappointed!

2 Stars GPS Maestro 4250
Purchase this GPS with High expectations, however to my dissapointment it reacts to the signal VERY SLOW, the features it has are not user friendly.

5 Stars just as advertised
works great no problems so far. I am a courier and use it all day

1 Star OUTDATED MAPS
The packing on the Magellan Maestro should have a warning and all store that sell it should warn that the maps that come with the 5310 are old, outdated and do not include Alaska. I just bought this for my father in-law and the first thing he did was try to get a route from my house (in Anchorage, AK) to his. And why should I pay for a 79.00 DVD if Magellan won’t even tell me if any Alaska streets on on it. GO figure…

If you live in Alaska – go NOT buy Magellan products as they will rip you off and you won’t get a useable product.

2 Stars Magellan5310
I got my 5310 from Costco without checking the online reviews. Since I am a Amazon customer and know their review system are fair, so after I used 5310 three times I’d like to post the review for this product. I am a regular user and don’t need the 05/2009 map (so far) and the other common functions are good. But I notice that the battery doesn’t hold for 3 hours as the manufacturer said. It ONLY GIVES LESS THAN 50 MINUTES battery usage after two-day charge. I don’t know it is defect or not? The worst part of this product is that the unit seems to be over heat after 30 min. commute usage. It was so hot that I could barely hold it.

1 Star Magellan Maestro 5310 GPS
This product is the second magellan maestro I have purchased from Amazon.

The first one stopped working after 6 wks. The second never worked at all. I have owned a magellan gps which worked well until I squashed the screen and broke it. I do not know whether my problems come from buying thru Amazon, or bying Magellan.

5 Stars DPD
I purchased a Roadmate 700 series from Amazon several years ago. It worked fine… until recently. And that is why I went searching for a new GPS. I like the size of the screen and the ease of touch programming. I’ve only had it, about, a month, but am using it much more frequently than my old one. It’s much lighter and easier to install. (I have the bracket “velcroed” to an area of my dash so that it is concealed yet easy to refer to.

I would recommend this product to anyone interested in a quality GPS!

1 Star WORSE COMPANY I’VE EVER DELT WITH
I BOUGHT A MAGELLAN GPS AND HAD IT ONE DAY AND IT QUIT WORKING. I TOOK IT BACK AND EXCHANGED IT FOR ANOTHER MAGELLAN. I HAD THIS ONE FOR 33 DAYS AND IT QUIT WORKING. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE STORE WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY SAID I HAD TO SEND IT BACK TO THE COMPANY BECAUSE I HAD IT OVER 30 DAYS. I SENT IT BACK TO THE COMPANY REQUESTING A REFUND DUE TO THAT BEING THE SECOND DEFECTIVE GPS. MAGELLAN REFUSED TO GIVE A REFUND, ORIGINALLY STATING THAT IT WAS BECAUSE WE BOUGHT THE UNIT FROM SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN MAGELLAN, AND TOLD ME I HAD TO GET A REFURBISHED GPS INSTEAD. EVEN AFTER ARGUING THE FACT THAT THIS STORE WAS AUTHORIZED TO SELL THE UNITS, AND AFTER SENDING LETTERS TO MAGELLAN’S PRESIDENT, NELSON CHAN, I WAS REFUSED A REFUND, AND I WAS SENT A REFURBISHED UNIT.

WAY TO GO MAGELLAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I MIGHT NOT HAVE RECEIVED A REFUND FOR YOUR PIECE OF JUNK, BUT AFTER HEARING OF MY EXPERIENCES WITH MAGELLAN, I KNOW OF NUMEROUS CONSUMERS WHO HAVE SHOPPED AND BOUGHT ELSEWHERE, WHICH TO ME, HAS MORE THAN MADE UP FOR NOT GETTING THE REFUND. HOPEFULLY THIS REVIEW WILL KEEP SOMEONE FROM MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE.

2 Stars Shipped wrong item
I ordered and paid for a 4050 and when i tried to update the firmware, discovered I was actually sent a 4040. Shame on Amazon.

2 Stars Pretty good…despite software problems
I”m a regular guy with an average knowledge of computers and computer programs.

I can’t get any of the software to install for my Magellan. The firmware update simply will not install itself onto the unit. It *could* be my computer, but if I’m having this issue with mine, surely others are as well. Nor can I install the custom POI’s program either. It gives me a error code which the online Magellan support does nothing to help for.

Despite the software problems, we like it. It gets us where we need to go easily.

4 Stars Another drawback in Magellan Maestro 4050
I bought my Magellan Maestro 4050 about six months ago on Amazon.com. Sofar I am pleased with all the features and its functioning, but still a bit dissatisfied when I was holding my GPS 4050 at point A and tried to get direction from point B to point C. Magellan Maestro does not have that route. So when you have your GPS 4050 in your hand at point A, you can not make a map direction from point B to point C like you can make through Yahoo map or Google map. I don’t know why GPS makers do not think about that?????? Another drawback that sometimes the Bluetooth froze and the touch screen doesnot respond. I have to push a reset on side to make it work.

5 Stars Great GPS!
This is a very handy little gadget. I have had many uses for it already. The amopunt of information contained in this little unit is amazing! Well worth the money.

3 Stars magellan maestro 5310
yes I like it but I returned the product couse it did not have the bluetooth feature in it so I have to give it back. it looks good thou big and clear but no bluetooth.

2 Stars FAIR
I have shipped this one back and received a new one. The first one I received looked used not new. However, the performance of this unit is not great. I liked the roadmate 800 better. The 800 was faster all the way around. The maestro takes too long to re-route and way too long to search for a point of interest, sometimes as much as 1 minute to locate a POI. The POI editor is too complicated ot figure out and I could not get it to work. I installed the updated firmware for this unit and it did not help at all. There is also a quirkey deal with a message indicating that battery power is being used and it is not. Maybe the next firmware update will take care of this if one is ever developed.

Magellan also charges for map updates which I believe are pricey $ 79.00 bucks! I believe these should be free.

The traffic feature works OK, however has not yet informed me of anything I didn’t know. After the free 3 month subscription, I will nor be subscribing again.

I would definately consider buying another brand next time .

2 Stars Magellan maps worthless zoomed out
The Magellan Maestro 5310 is a great screen size but is worthless if you want to see more than a few blocks ahead. At 1/2 mile zoom level you lose all county roads. Zoom out another level and you only see interstates and a few state roads. No city or town names any where. SD card is only for transferring routes..

I want to tour the country. These maps are only helpful for seeing a few blocks ahead in town. I returned it after 3 days.

4 Stars overall pretty good…
overall the Magellan Maestro 5310 is pretty good, i’ve read that the garmin are slightly better however i chose the magellan because i am able to switch routing type while in route such as (avoid freeway, easy route, shortest route) etc. while with the garmin there is a series of hoops you have to jump through to change and it isn’t dynamic.

the Magellan didn’t get the last star from me is because of the power chord/plug issue. if you move it while plugged in it very easily disconnects and you have to move it again to get it to register as connected. however if you plug it in and have a good connection, just leave it be and don’t move it. play with it after the charge. I havent tried the ac adapter for the car yet.

overall the magellan is way super user friendly and great to use.

5 Stars Magellan Maestro 5310
The product has functioned as expected … it came with a dashboard mounting assembly and not the windscreen mount as was specified on the original box. The product was delivered expeditiously after the order was confirmed.
